Dirk Nowitzki speaks on his World Cup Family Rivalry
Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki talks about Germany Swedish family rivalry.
Dirk Nowitzki, who was born in Germany, has a little bit of a family rivalry because his brother-in-law Martin Olsson made Sweden’s 23 man squad for the the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
So this only created an atmosphere of smack talk between the family’s Sweden-Germany rivalry. What makes it even better is both countries are both in group F, so there could be a direct match-up sooner than expected.
Germany is the reigning world champs from 2014. Germany won in nail-biting fashion with a goal from Mario Goetze in the 113th minute, beating Argentina 1-0.
If the two squads do meet up, a betting man would put his money on Germany, seeing as they have the more accomplished soccer players. But, this is the World Cup, so anything can happen. Sweden’s squad willing be missing a house-hold name this year, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The LA Galaxy striker is know for his acrobatics and goal-scoring abilities. For Germany, they will be missing the man who scored the game-winning goal in the World Cup Final, Goetze.
