Yankees newly signed catcher Robinson Chirinos spoke to media prior to 2021 Spring Training.

Chirinos spoke on signing with the Yankees organization and World Series hope.

“I’m excited to be here. I think it’s a lot of opportunity here. It’s a good team, a team whose hungry to win, and that’s what I like about this team. I was blessed to be in that houston team in ’19 and I was so close to win a world series. That’s why I choose to come here, because I know we have an opportunity to win a world series and that’s what I want as a player.”

In addition, Chirinos also spoke on relationship with pitcher Garrett Cole.

“We have good relationship. I think back in 2019, we were able to be on the same page. I know earlier in the season he was throwing to a different guy, and I was lucky enough to catch him for two and a half months. And I think we did good. I think he won pitcher of the american league. It was good, Gary said tough guy to catch, he like to talk. He like for their catchers to be pretty much picking his brain. He was challenged but he was way open to me, and shared information and that’s the only thing you ask as a catcher. For your pitchers to be open, and communicate and trying to be on the same page. That was ’19, so we’ll see how this 2021 goes” he finished.
