Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki stays optimistic about his squad and management.

When asked to comment about the future the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki sounded hopeful, even though nothing happened this season that would make us think otherwise. The bright spot this season was acquiring the fifth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Lack of success on the court led the Mavericks to a 24-58 regular season record and the owner Mark Cuban admitting to tanking, it just does not breed optimism. To add to the chaos, the mishandling of personal off the court, Dallas Mavericks fans do not have much to look forward to.

Not to pile on, but the Mavericks, in recent history, do not have a good track record of attracting star free agents.  A prime example was not getting Los Angeles Clipper DeAndre Jordan to sign with the Mavs in 2015.

One of the positive things about Dallas’ situation is there is nowhere to go but up for the Mavericks after this season. It will be interesting to see how they choose to use their 5th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.
