Dallas Maverick power forward Dorian Finney-Smith gives his perspective on Luka Doncic’s play thus far.

The rookie class of each year is one many eyes love to watch for many reasons. One of them being these players are the future of the NBA. Last years rookie class was filled with sensational players: Ben Simmons, Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum.

This year class has some studs of their own: Luka Doncic, Trae Young and Deandre Ayton. Before the season started, many people did not have Doncic being the top rookie, let alone project him to have the season he is having.

Doncic’s teammate Dorian Finney-Smith showered the Slovenian with praise and deservingly so. Finney-Smith said not only is the former 19 year old having a great year, but he is also exceeding expectations.

For his rookie season, Doncic is currently averaging 21 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.6 assist, which are nearly identical to the greatest player of this generation rookie season, Los Angles Laker LeBron James (20.9 pts, 5.5rbs and 5.9ast).  All before the age of 19, he reached some amazing milestones and even created a new one:

His teammate said he can do it all and it is true. The many triple-doubles he as accumulated is testimony to that. Many have already compared his all-around ability to the likes of James and Earvin “Magic” Johnson. Some people may say pump the breaks, but his trajectory is only heading upward.

Nonetheless, his teammate is not lying when he says Doncic is playing like the “best rookie in the NBA.”
