J.J. Barea on His First Game Back From Injury & Mavs Without Dirk
After achieving a full decades worth of tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, point-man J.J. Barea seems to be happiest while playing in the American Airlines Center.
He currently made his return to the court while spending all Summer rehabbing from a season-ending Achilles rupture. When asked about the crowds reaction to his return to the court, Barea did not hesitate. “It was special, man. This place for me is special. You know, it’s always gonna be special. No better place to play then Dallas; in this gym, in this arena.”
Following a question circling the future of a Dirk Nowitzki-less Mavericks team, Barea was asked how he felt about carrying the same energy and cultural leadership that the recently retired big man brought to the organization. “I gotta keep it goin’. We got some great teammates here.” He also asserted that leading by example will be a primary focal point.
