Watch as Houston’s John Wall recalls playing against the late NBA Legend Kobe Bryant.

Wall relived his moment of glory against Kobe during his rookie season with the Wizards. “I got a switch on Kobe, he was posting me up and I blocked his shot. The ball bounced to half court, he got the ball back and shot a 3. It was a big moment for me because I could brag to my friends that I blocked Kobe Bryant’s shot”.

In addition, Wall spoke on the mark left by Kobe on and off the court. “We know how much he meant to the game of basketball and how much he affected people. His competetive drive, his hungriness of having the mindset that nothing can stop him from being what he wanted to be. He was a black mamba, and just what he stood for as a man. He gave everything he had to the game of basketball while he was here on this earth. And outside of that, he loved how he became a dad, being there for his kids and coaching them and being a mentor to people who looked up to him.

“It’s something that I look up to and try to do the same”, Wall continued. “Everything you can see about that man, was what you’d want to see in yourself. The way he loved his kids and loved his wife.”

“It was surreal. I didn’t believe it when I first read about it”, Wall said on the upcoming anniversary of Kobe Bryant’s passing. “The most important thing is people are still gonna charish Kobe and keep his name alive. We know what he meant to the game of basketball and what he meant outside the game of basketball. We get the opportunity to play on that same day so that’s big for us and the entire league.”
