Watch as Clippers’ Paul George recaptures first time playing against the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

“It’s a story I always tell, one of the greatest and funniest moments”, George said on his first time ever playing against Kobe. “The very first time was actually here in LA. It was my second year, and I got the opportunity. I was matched up with him – it was my assignment to guard Kobe.”

“Obviously having B Shaw [Brian Shaw] as an assistant, and B Shaw’s jawwing at him, talking mess from the bench. Them two was going at it [Kobe and B Shaw], and here I am in the middle while all this is going down. I was guarding him, and he got into his patent pump-fake and I went flying for it. He caught me in the air, gave me a little elbow, got passed me and laid it up. He immediately ran down to where B Shaw was, and yelled at B Shaw ‘Check the young fella for feathers’. That was the first moment of being on the court and guarding Kobe”, he finished.

“This was the matchup I always wanted”, George said on the opportunity to play one of his idols. “It was everything. At that moment, it was just me and him. I didn’t have as many bullets to shoot as he did. It was a chance for me to see him up close and learn from him. It was the best moment of my life as a basketball player”, he finished.
