Luka Doncic on loss, rough shooting night and practice afterwards.

The Dallas Mavericks lost to the San Antonio Spurs to extend their losing streak to six straight losses. The loss was tough, but the Mavericks best and most captivating player, Luka Doncic, was even worse. Doncic shot 5 of 18 from the floor and turned the ball over nine times.

One of the most glaring problems in Doncic’s play was turnovers, which fans should tolerate because he is a rookie. We all know the usual suspects when it comes to turnovers, such as doing too much or forcing passes. The rookie said it’s neither and his plan of action to reduce the turnovers is simple: “not lose the ball.”

The Croatian know that games like these happen, saying “it not going to be the last night like this.” The first-round rookie was so upset with his performance against the Spurs that he spent an hour afterwards practicing on “everything.”

The Dallas Mavericks only loss by seven and a lot of that credit is because of rookie Jalen Brunson picking up the scoring load. Brunson poured in 34 points on 75 percent shooting. Doncic said he is not surprised by Brunson’s scoring outburst because he has seen Brunson play like this in practice, calling him an “amazing player.”

While this was not one of Doncic’s most efficient shooting nights, to be fair, he played little banged up. He said “obvisouly, I wasn’t a 100 percent, but I want to play.” Playing with nagging injures will throw off even the greatest of players, let alone a rookie. He added even if we are not playing for much, I want to be out there.
