Andrew Wiggins prints a poster with clutch slam
Despite scoring 22 points, Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins couldn’t find a rhythm on court. While he battled an inconsistent jump shot for the games entirety, the young star lit a fire under his team with a thunderous dunk over defender Josh Richardson.
Wiggins’ jam was intergral in brining his team to life, but it was Jeff Teague who played the role of the unlikely hero when the game came down to the wire. The former Hawk, Pacer and one time Allstar compiled 14 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and extra period. His experience and winning pedigree is something that the Wolves have lacked in the past few years of their rebuild.
Teague wasn’t the only big name acquired by the T-wolves this offseason, bonafide NBA superstar Jimmy Buttler also found his way to their roster via a draft night trade with the Chicago Bulls. His presence was expected to make an immediate impact, but through five games in a new jersey, he has yet to assert himself among a team full of inexperienced stars.
Minnesota skid past Miami by the skin of their teeth and narrowly escaped with a 125-122 overtime victory. Although it isn’t their most impressive showing, the Timberwolves look to be building chemistry with each passing game and heading on the right trajectory.
Their team is dripping with game changing talent and should they piece together the puzzle of their roster and find the winning ingredients, the Western Conference should be terrified to draw them in a first round playoff matchup. However, until the can show they deserve to be taken seriously, the T-Wolves will somehow continue to fly under the radar despite their potential.
