Drew Pearson on His Viral 2017 NFL Draft Moment with Eagles Fans (FV Exclusive)
Pearson gives Fanatics View more insight on his viral 2017 NFL Draft Moment
In the second interview of a two-part series with Fanatics View, former Cowboys WR Drew Pearson gives us the inside scoop behind the viral moment between him and some Eagles fans at the 2017 NFL Draft. What was most surprising is who gave Pearson a bit of more inspiration ahead of the viral moment: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“The commissioner comes backstage. He says ‘are you ready for this?’ I said, commissioner, I’m used to getting booed in Philadelphia. As a matter of fact, if it wasn’t for the Philadelphia Eagles, I wouldn’t have had a career in the NFL. And he started laughing, and then he said ‘say that. Say that’. I say really? Say that?”
“They should’ve known from playing against these guys for 11 seasons. My record was 16-5, I believe, against the Eagles. They should’ve known, you know. Don’t mess with Drew Pearson.”
Pearson heckled the Eagles fans in attendance at the draft with a couple of verbal shots. He started the announcement of the pick by saying “How ’bout them Cowboys? Thank you Eagle fans for allowing me to have a career in the NFL. Thank you.”
The rest is history.
