David Ross on Willson Contreras Getting Hit Twice by Brewers: “It’s Scary. You Have to Be Better”
Cubs manager David Ross spoke to media following 4-0 loss to Milwaukee Brewers.
During the 9th inning, benches cleared following catcher Willson Contreras second hit-by-pitch in the series.
Manager David Ross shared his thoughts on the situation.
“[He] just took exception to getting the head yesterday, and then you know up around the shoulder-elbow area. It’s scary right now. At some point, you have to be better. You can’t just continue to pitch in and hit guys – gotta be better.”
Ross also spoke on Chicago’s strong defense while being shut-out.
“David’s played two spectacular plays. I thought him and KB [Kris Bryant] played exceptional defense for us. Really nice, long throws, both of them got some stuff on it. Nice diving stop by KB there early on. Late, I thought we played really good defense tonight. Just couldn’t get the bats going.”
