Trae Young on Being in Company with LeBron, KD & Shaq: “It’s an Honor But It’s Not About Accolades
Watch as Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young speaks to media following important win vs. Celtics.
Trae spoke on the Hawks ability to finish and close out the game to secure a much needed win.
“It was very important. It was something we were all echoing in the huddles late in the game. Just wanted to get stops and also close out the game. We’ve been in a couple games recently where we had leads and given it up late in the game. We just didn’t want to let that happen tonight, it was a good mentality to have and I think it worked out good for us.”
In addition, Trae spoke on being in company with NBA greats such as LeBron, Shaq & KD.
“It’s humbling everytime I’m mentioned with greats, or a player that came before me. The group you just said, just being a part of that group it’s an honor. At the same time for me it’s never been about individual accolades. For me, it’s all about focusing on this team and how we win, but like I said, I’m honored to be mentioned with those guys.
“That always helps”, Trae said on him getting his floaters going. “That’s something I can use as a tool to get others going, to get myself going. I know if I get in the middle of the lane, a lot of teams give up those floaters. For me, just focus on working on that everyday, continue to do what I’ve been doing since I was 5 years old and working on my floaters in the middle lane. Hopefully they continue to drop and I gotta continue to work on them”, he finished.
