Andy Reid Takes Full Responsibility for Chiefs Super Bowl LV Loss & Responds to Tragic Situation
Chiefs’ Andy Reid spoke to media following Super Bowl LV loss to Buccs.
Reid started the interview sending love to the ones affected by his son’s tragic car accident.
“My heart goes out to all those involved in the accident. In particular, the family with the little girl who’s fighting for her life. It’s a tough situation. I can’t comment on it anymore then what I am here. Just from a human standpoint, my heart bleeds for everyone involved in that.”
Reid went on to accept responsibility for the Chiefs’ ugly defeat in Super Bowl LV.
“As far as this game goes, they played better than we did”, he said. “I take full resposibility for it. You can’t do the things we did and beat a good football like that at this level”, he finished.
“You can’t have that many penalties”, Reid said on the Chiefs’ 11 penalties in the big game. “It is uncharacteristic and it’s too bad that it happened today.”
In addition, Reid spoke on the Chiefs’ grim offensively performance.
“Todd [Bowles] had a good plan. Like I said, I could have done a whole lot better putting these guys in positions to make plays. My guys busted their tail, and it just didn’t work for us. Give credit to Todd for the job he did, he got us”, he finished.
Reid went on to discuss the accomplishment of returning to super bowl for a consecutive year.
“It’s tough. It’s a tough thing to even get back to this game. It just shows you the heart of these guys, and what they’ve done to put ourselves in a position to atleast have an opportunity to do this. We’ve got to do better and use it as motivation to help get ourselves back again”, he finished.
Reid told media his message to his players following the super bowl loss.
“I had an opportunity to be with them. Just that you ‘battled your tail off all year’, ‘stand tall’. That’s important, and ‘keep your eyes looking up and forward’. We didn’t play our best game today, but we’re gonna get back on it and get ourselves ready for next year”, he finished.
